Press Conference on Illegal Immigration - H.R. 4437

Several prominent U.S. faith leaders, including ERLC President Richard Land, appeared Sept. 26 with Senators Edward Kennedy, John McCain, and Arlen Specter, among others, in a Washington, D.C., press conference calling for the passage of comprehensive immigration reform.

Land, who noted the illegal immigrant debate has “profound moral and ethical implications,” urged Congress to “rise above partisan considerations and disagreements” in forging a “moral and decent solution” to the issue.

“We need to have security on our borders, but we have to find a way to deal compassionately and fairly with the 12 to 14 million people who are here illegally,” Land said.
